What is reverse charge VAT?

Reverse charge is a B2B VAT mechanism used in cross-border digital services within the EU. When you are a VAT-registered business in an EU country purchasing from a UK supplier such as GAIN IQ, we do not charge you VAT - you account for it in your own VAT return. Your invoice will state: “VAT reverse charged - customer to account for VAT.”

Why is VAT included on my invoice?

TBC

US Sales Tax

Do you charge US sales tax?

Yes. For customers located in the United States, GAIN IQ may charge state and local sales tax on subscription fees where our SaaS services are treated as taxable and where we have sales tax nexus (obligation to collect) under that state’s rules.

How is US sales tax calculated?

US sales tax is calculated based on your billing address and the rules of your state and local jurisdiction, including whether SaaS or digital services are taxable there. Stripe Tax automatically calculates the correct combined rate (state and local) at checkout or on your invoice.

Why is US sales tax included on my invoice but not VAT?

If you are a US customer, we may be required to charge US sales tax instead of VAT; the tax line on your invoice will reflect the applicable US jurisdiction and rate rather than UK/EU VAT. Customers outside the US, UK, and EU may see no indirect tax line if no tax is due for their location.

Do all US states tax GAIN IQ subscriptions?

No. Some states tax SaaS subscriptions, some exempt them, and others tax only certain use cases (for example, B2C but not B2B). Whether tax appears on your invoice depends on the taxability of SaaS in your state and whether we have registered for sales tax there.

I am a US business. Can my subscription be taxexempt?

In some states, qualifying US business customers may claim exemption (for example, resale or specific non‑profit exemptions) by providing a valid exemption certificate. If we are able to accept and validate your exemption, tax will not be charged on future invoices for that account.

Q54. How do I update my US tax details?
